I never really had a problem with my body image. I couldn’t tell what I looked like in the mirror. It was never an issue. Being a positive thought instructor I felt that to love my body was the best thing I could do no matter what size I was, but when my doctor said it was time for insulin shots I realized that I really didn’t feel too healthy. I wondered deep within my mind how I could have attracted diabetes. I knew that it wasn’t only about my thoughts, but that genetics played a part as well.

That said, I knew I could ‘overcome’ the genetics through thought and action and my actions were much different than what I was showing my body. Hmmm… Maybe, just maybe, if I could do this with my mind, body, and spirit, I could help someone else as well. Maybe my weight loss journey would be beneficial to others and that is why I had attracted the weight. That is what got me thinking about how to change this within myself.

I figured out my own program; one that might work for me. I didn’t give up a thing but made changes within and those changes created what I envisioned.

I no longer take insulin shots, have an amazing amount of energy, and don’t feel deprived in any way, shape, or form. It was all about free will and my choices and thoughts about food. AN EXCERPT FROM THE BOOK

I had done this before but before was always about extremes: The popcorn diet, the broth diet, whatever-would-make-me-lose-weight-fast diet. That was when I was in my twenties and then after four children I just decided that there would be no more thought about losing weight or dieting.

I would just live happily, eat what I wanted, and love my body no matter what.  I mean why not? I recognized that humans are evolving into a ‘bigger’ race anyway. Whether it is the food they are eating, genetics, or that the world is changing, it was all about acceptance for me. I loved my body, but then I found out that I was the one out of four of my siblings that inherited the diabetic gene from my dad.

Oh well, I reasoned, a pill… Nothing wrong with that. Even though I had fibromyalgia (and now diabetes) it wasn’t going to affect my standard of living. I mean, I had positive thought that kept me healthy within my mind and spirit and kept stress away from my body. I didn’t even drink or smoke. I’d be fine. So I kept living, kept enjoying everything around me, yet that diabetes thing kind of nagged at me.

I was surrounded by diabetes.  My dad was diabetic and Lee was diabetic and I could see the toll that it took on my dad’s body. But I believed that if I thought positive and created a positive body image vibration I’d be good. No worries, right?

I walked each morning and kept busy. I did what the doctor told me to do. Yet my body almost felt as if it was betraying my thoughts. I began to wonder if I could use more energy during the day. Thoughts began to trickle in: You believe one way but you are acting another. You’re not showing the Universe you are serious about a healthy body and having more energy.

I thought one thing but showed the Universe another. I knew then that it was time. And so began the scheming and planning of how I was going to do it. I didn’t want to tell anyone. I didn’t want any advice on what to do. I didn’t want an outside group telling me what to eat and when to eat it. I didn’t want to diet. I wanted to change my lifestyle just enough to rid myself of those pesky diabetic shots.

So I began researching online and in books, seeking the best way for me to achieve my goal.  And I found it. I put together my own personal plan for dropping my weight. And I knew, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that I would lose the weight.

The first rule I made for myself was this: Don’t expect it to happen overnight. Give yourself time and let go and enjoy the process of losing weight instead of sticking to some ridiculous timeline that would only create limitations.
